Google has announced another new development with Shopping Ads. You’ll recall earlier this year, when we reported that Google Shopping Ads would appear in Google Images results. Starting July 15, Product Shopping ads and Showcase Shopping ads will be eligible to appear on Google Discover and YouTube in the United States.
YouTube is a well-known platform, but not everyone is familiar with Google Discover. What used to be called Google Feed has now been rebranded as Google Discover. In addition to the new name, the Google team updated the design to a fresh new format. Discover will feature topics that are relevant to you based on your behavior and interactions with Google products (i.e. recent search history).
On your mobile device, Discover will show you news, videos and updates regarding your favorite band, actor or sports team. With Google’s latest update, you’ll now see Shopping Ads next to your content.
As an advertiser, do I need to do anything to get my ads on YouTube and Discover?
If you are set-up on a Standard Shopping campaign, then you will be automatically enabled for YouTube and Google Discover as long as you are enabled for Search partners. If you don’t want your ad to surface on those Google platforms, then you will have the option to opt out during the week of June 17, 2019.
What does this mean for advertisers who will now be able to serve up their ads across multiple Google properties like Discover, Google Images, Google Search, YouTube, and even Gmail Social and Promotion Tabs? It has the potential to increase traffic, your click through rates, and ultimately increase your conversions. That’s a win-win!
