How to create a Fruugo feed

You will first need to setup a retailer account here https://sell.fruugo.com/en/registration and you will be added to the waiting list for approval. Once you are approved then you can login and begin the process of starting a product feed for Fruugo.

There are three primary ways which a CSV feed can be created. These are:

1) Automated Feed (Recommended) – A script is written to create the feed automatically. The work would typically need to be undertaken by an IT / Web developer. Depending on your back office system there is the possibility that the facility to export our feed format may already be in place or available as an off-the-shelf plug-in module. To be discussed with your service provider or an internal IT contact. By choosing to automatically create a file, and publishing the file to a suitable URL, Fruugo can retrieve this file on a schedule, which can be several times a day (specified by you). Once the CSV feed integration is fully implemented, little or no manual intervention is required to maintain your product data. The Fruugo system is able to retrieve the file from your systems using HTTP or HTTPS. The CSV file must be provided in UTF-8 character encoding.

2) Manual Feed – Create the file manually in Excel or other suitable software where you can save the file in CSV format. The data can be gathered by using extracts from export files you can currently access from your backoffice to copy & paste to the relevant field of the file format. You can generate the data file manually using software like Excel, but this is not recommended when you have fast moving stock as it will be a lot of work to keep updated – such as stock levels changing, new products added, and old products removed. 3) Self-created Feed – Create the file manually in Excel or other suitable software where you can save in CSV format by gathering the information manually. You can generate the data file manually using software like Excel, but this is not recommended when you have fast moving stock as it will be a lot of work to keep updated – such as stock levels changing, new products

XML files work best where the file is automatically exported from the ecommerce system to a file on your systems. Due to the size of the files produced and the strict requirements in the structure of the file, creating XML files manually is not recommended. What formats does Fruugo accept (CSV, XML, API, etc)

CSV and XML. There are also several plugins you can use to upload information to Fruugo.

For XML:

The Fruugo XML file consists of a “” element which contains any number of “” elements. Each element contains all the information relevant to a single product SKU variation. Each variation of a product gets a different element. The is used to link the variations together to create the main product, with the identifying the specific variation Within the element, the fields relating to the description and pricing of the product are split into further and elements. This allows for the inclusion of the description in multiple languages and prices in multiple currencies. Notes: Although they are not required by our systems, using indenting and new lines in the file, as shown in the examples, makes it easier to locate and correct any errors. The files should be UTF-8 encoded. The standard XML encoding rules apply for &, <, >, etc. To include HTML tags in a field, it is advisable to wrap the field with CDATA

We work with businesses everyday and know that you want your products available everywhere. So what are the options? You can try spreadsheets, but you have to start over and re-import every time you need to update pricing, inventory levels, or products (sometimes multiple times per day). You then have to re-optimize using best practices or you send junk (which is nearly impossible when you have a lot of SKUs), or you could try using some of the off the shelf “do-it-yourself” product feed platforms, but many are grossly inadequate, too complicated, difficult to use. Others are too simple and can’t properly clean your product feeds, requiring you to put in countless hours of manual work. Others are too pricey costing thousands each month.

Many business owners decide that it would be better to let us help them get their feeds working properly.
