Some common eBay Commerce Network feed errors:
Problem Codes 8000-8999: Invalid Attributes for Offer Appeal

Please find below the problem codes associated to invalid attribute values that impact the consumer appeal of your offers.  For every problem code, you will find below further explanations and suggestions to help you provide valid values and optimize your feed for offer appeal.

Problem Code 8009

Invalid Image URL

The Image URL for the item is invalid.  Follow these suggestions to troubleshoot the problem:

  1. Make sure the URL follows the format:  http://images.acmehardware.com/200×200/4486122.jpg,   with the URL address pointing to an image file. The image file formats supported by our system are: .jpg, .png, .tif, .gif, and .bmp
  2. Make sure the image file location is accessible by us when you introduce a new item in your feed.
  3. Another source of invalid URLs is the incorrect mapping of your Image URL column in the feed file with the Image URL option in the mapping tool of the Merchant Centre.  When this happens, our system sees values other than URL addresses in this column.  If you see your full inventory with invalid Image URLs, this is likely the problem.  in this case, remap your feed.

Problem Codes 300-6999: Partial Findability

Please find below both the problem codes communicated by us in your Partially Findable report and the respective guidance to optimize your feed. Implementing the following suggestions by your next feed submission will make it easier for us to map your offers to the proper category and for your prospect consumers to find your offers when they filter their search results.

Problem Code 300

Missing category mapping attributes.

Our automatic classification system uses the content in your item’s attributes to derive the right category for those items.

Product name and product description are the two most important attributes for classification in your feed. Provide keyword-rich, relevant descriptions to improve the chances of good category mapping for your items. In general they should include brand, product name, key features and type of product within 90 characters. For example:

  • Leica M7 Rangefinder 35mm Camera
  • Nike Men’s Super Speed D 3/4 Blue/White Football Cleats
  • J.Crew Floral Red Summer Sundress

For Computer and Electronics items, MPN/ISBN, Brand and UPC/EAN are key attributes to derive the right category for your products.

Both the Subcategory name and the respective Category ID are relevant as corrective values in the classification process. They are used to force the classification of items when the automatic system has been unable to figure out the right category based on the values you have provided in the feed. Use our Category IDs presented in the Taxonomy tab of the feed specification.

Provide valid values for all these fields in your feed to improve the classification of your items.

Problem Code 400

Missing product matching attributes.

The following item’s attribute are critical for the right product matching: Brand, UPC/EAN, MPN/ISBN and Product Name. Provide keyword-rich, relevant descriptions to improve the chances of good product matching for your offers. In general Product Names should include brand, product name, key features and type of product within 90 characters. For example:

  • Nike Men’s Super Speed D 3/4 Blue/White Football Cleats
  • J.Crew Floral Red Summer Sundress
