How to create a Yandex feed

  1. To create a feed you need to set up an advertiser account with Yandex. To begin you will need to fill out the contact form found at https://yandex.com/adv/contact. Once you have an account approved and set up with them then you may take the next steps in order to build your product feed.
  2. There are two primary ways to set up a feed to Yandex. You can either put a text file containing the data (price list) on the site or you can upload the data file using the client’s personal account.
    1. Text File: If you are loading a text file, then you will need to give standard authorization to the Yandex.Market robot to download your file automatically.
      1. You will need to have your products posted to a URL that has been previously approved by “Yandex.Market”, and should be available over the HTTP or HTTPS protocols. It is important to note that the URL of the file cannot be the same as the store’s URL and you should not use the FTP protocol or any ports other than 80 and 443.
      2. URL length must not exceed 512 characters.
      3. The URL can not use the special characters \r, \n, or \x00.
      4. Yandex does not support HTTP redirects.

    1. Upload via Personal Account: You can also upload a data file using your personal account but you will be required to manually update product information every 30 calendar days.

What formats does Yandex accept ?

Yandex Market Language (YML)

    • Yandex Market Language is a standard developed by Yandex for receiving and publishing information in the Yandex.Market database. YML is based on the XML standard.
  • Microsoft Excel File Format (XLS)
  • A delimited text format (CSV, TSV)
    • Important Note: If using a delimited text format then these are the requirements for the price lists:
  1. Each line in the file should correspond to a single line in the spreadsheet.
  2. The columns are separated by either a comma or semicolon (CSV), or a tab (TSV).
  3. Each line in the file should contain a description of a single product.
  4. The first line must contain the names of elements used to describe the products.
  5. The file must be UTF-8 encoded.
  6. Delimited formats don’t allow you to use tabs or line breaks inside data fields.
  7. The file should not contain empty columns.
  8. There is no set order that elements must follow, but they must be kept in the same order within a single file.

How to send your feed to Yandex

You can either put a text file containing the data (price list) on the site or you can upload the data file using the client’s personal account. If you are setting up a URL text file for automatic periodic loading then there is nothing else you need to do. If you are manually uploading a data file then you need to send data as an archive file by compressing it using the GNU ZIP algorithm (with the gz suffix) or the ZIP algorithm.

We work with businesses everyday and know that you want your products available everywhere. So what are the options? You can try spreadsheets, but you have to start over and re-import every time you need to update pricing, inventory levels, or products (sometimes multiple times per day). You then have to re-optimize using best practices or you send junk (which is nearly impossible when you have a lot of SKUs), or you could try using some of the off the shelf “do-it-yourself” product feed platforms, but many are grossly inadequate, too complicated, difficult to use. Others are too simple and can’t properly clean your product feeds, requiring you to put in countless hours of manual work. Others are too pricey costing thousands each month.

Many business owners decide that it would be better to let us help them get their feeds working properly. If you would like to learn a bit more about the 100+ other channels like Yandex that we can get your product set into then please contact us with the form below and learn a bit more about how we can help you maximize your time and expand your sales channels.
