The category taxonomy contains about a thousand different categories. What you’ll notice off the bat is that the top-most categories like Babies & Kids and Automotive don’t have category ID numbers. This sometimes leads to cases where there isn’t a perfect fit for many specific products that don’t fall into the categories with IDs.
Other key things to keep in mind are:
- You have to use the category ID number, not the category name.
- Don’t include commas in the category IDs
- You cannot specify multiple categories
